Q: Why don’t we start by having you tell us a little about Notion Digital and how you got your start?
A: Notion Digital is a fast-growing creator of Christian mobile apps such as Weather Nun, My Daily Devotion and several others. We got our start about 18 months ago and have already hit the 2 million install mark. I had some previous experience working on digital products in this arena, and after doing a bit more research in the landscape I knew there was audience for this type of product. Our goal is to become the #1 publisher in Christian apps.
Q: When did you start using Tenjin, and how are you using the platform today?
A: We started using Tenjin a year ago. I got referred to the company from another partner, and I couldn't be any more thankful for that. I've come to rely on Tenjin daily. I use the platform for tracking my marketing channel's installs, marketing spend, retention and app activities. The DataVault API has also become a tool we use multiple times per day (if not hour). Being able to query all of our app data like that is incredible.
Q: How has Tenjin helped you grow the business?
A: It's a resource that allowed us to scale. Understanding where your marketing dollars go is critical, and Tenjin gives us that insight. We're able to breakout our CPI targets by marketing channel and in some cases get even more granular by breaking out targets by Sub ID level. The bottom line is that Tenjin increases the efficiency of our marketing dollars.
Q: What lessons or advice do you have for other indie developers who are trying to market their apps?
A: I’d tell them that you need to make wise decisions and strategic bets. Place your chips wisely and get as much information as possible to help decide what bets to make going forward. Once you find your sweet spot then you can scale -- and that's where the success is.
Q: What’s next for Notion Digital? How do you plan to build on your success so far?
A: We've been working most of the year on creating a social media product for Christians. There's nothing really like this in the market and we're hoping this can become our next big product. And of course we're going to work on growing our existing portfolio of apps with our marketing partners.
